Marin Garden Club
Gwen Cooper Scholarship

The scholarship was named in honor of Gwen Cooper who lived in Marin County for over 50 years. She was a life-long learner and educator who founded the award to inspire students to pursue further education in horticulture, conservation or environmental studies.

The Marin Garden Club is a long-standing Marin County organization founded in 1931. Its purpose is to promote interest in gardens and gardening, to engage in educational activities with regard to horticulture and to encourage the conservation of the natural beauties of Marin County.

In the interest of encouraging students to pursue studies and/or careers in areas related to horticulture, landscaping, conservation and/or the environment, the Marin Garden Club established a scholarship in 1994. The number of awards and amount of the scholarship varies year to year, depending on club income. The minimum scholarship award will be $1000.
